TIRED OF looking tired? Work, family, social life... We’re often trying to juggle too many things at once and there simply aren’t enough hours in the day! So, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that some of women’s biggest skin concerns today are visible signs of fatigue.
It’s no big secret: when you’re tired, the first place it shows is on your face – or, to be more precise, around your eyes. We’ve all been there, a late night before an early start and we wake up to dark circles or puffiness around our eyes that no amount of concealer will hide!
Recent epigenetic (what?!) studies have shown that although many things about our appearance can be attributed to genetics, our lifestyle can actually modify the expression of our genes, which isn’t a surprise considering what our skin comes into contact with every single day. Basically, Epigenetics is the study of how environmental factors such as stress, pollution, diet, fatigue etc can influence our genes and therefore the appearance of our skin. This discovery has changed how brands approach skincare with one example being L’Occitane’s brand new innovative Overnight Reset Eye Serum, which aims to help make looking tired a thing of the past and who wouldn’t love that?!
The serum works to reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, helping to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and leaving you to wake up to eyes that look rested. The team at L’Occitane sent me one to try and review – and I also gave one away to one of my followers on Insta, well done @pinkmummusings!
Within the formula are key ingredients Marjoram and Acmella Oleracea extract which reduce the impact of environmental aggressors by modifying gene expression and boosting collagen production – protecting skin from wrinkles.
Other key ingredients include the organically-sourced immortelle essential oil which keeps skin looking fresh; this botanical complex is composed of five plant extracts which work together in synergy to help boost and soothe the skin, there’s also a dash of caffeine for good measure, to help reduce the look of dark circles.
The best bit? Results are visible after one night and after one week, dark circles and wrinkles are reduced and skin appears more radiant and smooth. The product launches into stores on 22 March, so it’s one to look out for, potentially a great Mother’s Day pressie!
