Although each year I yearn to be one of those smug people who have their Christmas shopping complete by the end of summer, it is just not something I have ever been able to do. To be completely honest, I just can’t start thinking of Christmas until A/W FASHIONWEEK is officially over and the air starts to get crisp with temperatures dropping.
However one thing that is always in my calendar each Summer is the Christmas in July event held in London where I always seem to manage to find the perfect gifts for everyone in my family and friends’ circles – and that includes even the fussiest of people, which is no mean feat!
One of my favourite brands to visit at this event (among so many fab brands, old and new) is Biscuiteers. They have the most beautiful selection of handmade biscuits (all Biscuiteers biscuits are hand-iced by the team of very talented bakers and icers in London - made the old-fashioned way, one biscuit at a time) and every time I see them I want to take one of each!
It’s been ten years since I got married and eschewed the traditional wedding cake in favour of Biscuiteers biscuits shaped like pieces of clothing (my husband and I both worked in fashion at the time).
As a company, Biscuiteers was – and still is – pretty ground-breaking in terms of creativity throughout the year; and their Christmas collection is no different. Each year they have an excellent mix of traditional and now classic biscuit shapes and designs as well as some quirky newbies and seasonally themed gift ideas for the biscuit-lover. (Although everyone loves a biscuit, right?) This sees the return of the iconic collections including the Nutcracker, The Snowman and the Nativity biscuits (a personal fave) as well as the Happy Christmas tin. We have just bought the Merry Christmas box for Valentina’s teacher – hoping she will like the snowmen!
For those who like experiences over ‘things’ and ‘stuff’, Biscuiteers biscuits really do make a lovely treat. I for one cannot wait to make a gingerbread house with Valentina this weekend, along with watching Elf, Love Actually and getting the Christmas tree decorated, which are all part of our Christmas traditions.
And of course you can’t forget the delectable Jolly Gingers biscuits which come in all varieties, I love the Christmas Jumper, Secret Santa and Father Christmas Ginger himself! These are letterbox friendly, so make a really fab alternative to a Christmas card – and what better message than an edible one, eh?
It’s easy to join the email list on biscuiteers.com – I totally love the prompts pre-Valentine’s, Mother’s Day and even Easter and end of term (for teacher gifts) and if you’re in London you can book to visit the biscuiterie (I made that word up) and join an icing class, or just visit to shop – and this is definitely something I plan to do with Valentina on a future trip to London.
